With the rick-roll sweeping the interwobbles, inciting shenanigans and leaving lulz in its wake, I thought I’d school you on its interesting origin!

The rick-roll, like a good 80% of all other hilarious memes on the internet, cometh from teh 4chan.

If you don’t know what 4chan is, you’re lucky. It is the asshole of the internet. Seriously, don’t google it. Don’t… I mean it. Okay, if you MUST, read this [NSFW]:.

Anyway, 4chan is an image board where immature boys, racists, the occasional camwhore, and pervs all go to anonymously discuss all sorts of terrible things. If you’ve ever seen The Aristocrats or know what The Aristocrats is, its pretty much that in web form.

Despite, or perhaps because of, the fact that many unsavory characters roam this website, many memes originate from this pit of despair. The ORLY owl, for example (ORLY came from somethingaweful forums, but not the owl) and all the great 300 macros [NSFW] like “I FORGET WHERE WE ARE DINING TONIGHT” came from 4chan, to name two mild examples.

Now, the Rick-roll is actually the successor to a much less funny trap called the Duckroll, in which a link that seems to point to a post earlier in a thread instead takes you to a video of a duck on wheels (duck + roll = duckroll) with a trippy song. Cute, I know, but not that funny really.

Anon (you do know “Anon” aka “Anonymous” comes from 4chan, don’t you? Yes THAT Anon) took this idea and ran with it, creating something far more infectious by using the amazing 80′s gem “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. Much funnier than a duck on wheels. This became the Rick-roll, and now you know where the “roll” comes from! Now you may go off and rick-roll your friends, smug in the fact that you know the origins of the Rick-roll.

Happy New Year’s Day everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season — I know I certainly had a great one.

I had a great Christmas this year as usual. I really feel blessed this time of year when the family comes together and the cards all come in from relatives across the country. Mom flew up to see the baby and have Christmas with us, and I got to play and bond with baby Parker for a whole week. I was really glad to be able to see both Mom and Dad this year, and Amme and I had an all around great week with our families. I got some fantastic new toys this year, but I’m not the bragging type, so I’ll just say I am humbled by the generosity of all in my family (which includes Amme’s family).

We’ve been getting inundated with snow this winter. Something I was afraid I’d not see again after the terrible winter we had last year. I believe we’re up to 4 or 5 major snow storms this year. And today we’re getting another 5-8 inches on top of the 8 we got two days ago! I can’t wait to go to the mountain for some serious powder carving on my snowboard!

Trevor came up again this year and spent Christmas with his mother before heading up north to visit with us. Alyssa got Guitar Hero 3 for Christmas and got Amme and all of us guys hooked on it. After arriving back in Bangor I borrowed GH 2 from my friend Carl, then rented GH 3 and We Love Katamari, so we’ve pretty much been playing PS2 non stop for the past few days. We’ve beat both Guitar Hero games on easy mode and are half way through both on medium difficulty.

Trevor is a minor scrabble deity (he has to do EVERYTHING to an extreme) so I’ve been getting coaching from him on becoming a better player. I was fairly dreadful before (I had no strategy to speak of) so I’m excited to play more. Theres a great free program by http://www.ISC.ro that lets you play scrabble with other people or computers, and they’re all rated so you know everyone’s relative skill level. I was playing earlier today and almost got trounced by Trevor came to my rescue during the last few seconds of play to win by a scant 12 points.

Every year I hold a New Years Eve party for the Caribou gang, and we usually have some fun idea or gimmick. This year Trevor brought up the idea of building a Rube Goldberg Machine, and though neither of us were sure that we’d have the drive to see it through to completion, it ended up being a great success. Trevor and I did the preliminary setup on the 29th and 30th, and Doody and Jason helped bring it all together on the 31st. Though our engineers Zach and Jesse couldn’t make it home, they were definitely there in spirit, and mentioned them a few times while trying to solve various problems. We also missed Jalbey, Johnny, Evan, Justin, and everyone else that couldn’t make it up. We hope they all had great times anyway.

Our original intent was to set it off and have it finish its task exactly as the ball dropped in times square (our task was to have a “Happy New Years” sign be raised on a string), but we were sure it would fail in some way at the crucial moment so we set it to record on the DVR just in case. That ended up being unnecessary, however, when it not only worked perfectly when the moment arrived, but also was timed to the second! We took a video of it with Doody’s camcorder and threw it on YouTube, you can check it out below or see it on my http://www.youtube.com/euicho page.

Again its been a fantastic holiday season and thank you to everyone in my life for making this past year great. I can’t wait to see what 2008 brings for us all.

Turtle Rock Studios is developing a new Zombie survival game called Left 4 Dead, and it looks really rad. Left 4 Dead is meant for online play, and the coolest part about it is the face that you can play as either a survivor or one of the infected!

Similar to Chuck Palahniuk’s novel “Rant”, a highly virulent strain of ravies has spread through the population. As is the case in any survival horror movie, your job is simply to survive by any means necessary. You’ll need to use teamwork, covering your friends, and reviving them when they fall (think Counter-Strike against Zombies). As an infected, you are driven to bite and kill any survivor you see. Through either sheer force or teamwork with your infected brethren, you must get to the survivors.

Not a lot of information has been released yet, but there is a gameplay video thanks to the PC Gamer Video Podcast.

The graphics look really decent, and the player animations are really well done as well. One to eight players can join in on the game –too bad, a more battlefield2-ish 64 players would have been totally amazing– with 20 maps in the initial game release (via Steam). Turtle Rock found the completely open level design to be too frustrating and hard (just staying alive in this game is said to be next to impossible) so the levels are instead of a ‘structured’ linear design.

The only melee attack is a shove move with your weapon, which is said to be a critical skill to use, but leaves me wanting a better selection of melee weapons (knife, hatchet, katana…). Still, Left 4 Dead looks like it may become a LAN party favorite. We’ll have to wait and see. Left 4 Dead will be relased some time later this year.

Thats right, Starcraft II is in production, and whats better is they’ve released some teasers that are sure to make any gamer drool with longing and giggle with delight. Jesse has been bugging me to post about this for a little while now, but I’ve been putting it off like a bad little blogger. I apologize for depriving you all of this eye-candy so to make it up to you, I’ll give you links to the goodies first, and then give you a few highlights.

Here is the Gameplay video and Trailer (be sure to watch the gameplay video!) and
some screenshots while you wait for the 20+ minute video to download (goes fast on a decent connection).

So, in between oogling the screens, and waiting for the video to d/l, why dont you read on about a few of the cool things in Starcraft II:

This long-awaited second installment of the Starcraft series will not dissapoint old-timers nor the new gaming generation. It keeps the 3rd person aerial view, with the additional ability to change the viewing angle, but updates the old motif with beautiful new textures, silky smooth new unit animations, and a new physics system for falling debris and the like.

Don’t worry, this isn’t just starcraft I with a new 3d engine. Blizzard has stayed true to the delicate balance of the beloved three races of Zerg, Protoss, and Terran, but have updated the races with all sorts of goodies.

For one, there are new units like immortals, stalkers, the colossus, and an awe-inspiring gem I shall not spoil here. These new units, and many old favorites, sport new weapon types and defenses like the planet cracker, new shields and laser weapons, and something called the “time bomb!”

There is also a new “IK system” which I believe integrates multiple-level terrain that can be moved across by certain units, and includes holes in the ground revealing the infinity of space.

In addition to offline story mode and multiplayer battles against either the computer or online players via Battlenet –which, BTW, is getting a total overhaul (No word yet on what that may entail)– Starcraft II will also have story modes available online. That should be interesting to say the least. Lastly, Blizard says they’ll provide fully-functioning map making and scripting tools for players to create custom maps and battle scenarios.

There is currently no release date, which is good as it ensures they won’t be rushing out a half-assed product. Also, Starcraft II is only in development for the PC, which IMHO is just the way it should be.

When I took my first Telecom class in college, I learned about the 8 RBOCs or Regional Bell Operating Companies being set up after the AT&T monopoly was ended.

My teacher said although they were all former “Bells”, they had no joint interest. However, I wasn’t so sure. At that time, they had already begun to buy each other and were down from 8 to 4:

SBC (Ameritech and Southwestern Bell and Pacific Telesis)

Verizon (GTE and Bell Atlantic and NYNEX)

BellSouth

Qwest (US West)

I had a scary premonition that day that this would keep up until there was again 1 company, or at least 2 companies with a joint interest…

And wouldn’t you know it, SBC aquired and changed its own name to AT&T, which then bought BellSouth (down to 3), and Verizon bought MCI for good measure.

Thats scary enough, but it I never even thought about cellular. You see, if we back up to before the SBC merger:

Cingular (owned by Bell South and SBC {no joint interest???}) bought AT&T wireless, changing it all to Cingular and creating the largest cellular network in the USA

Then SBC bought Bell South and AT&T, and that whole mess becomes AT&T Inc

Finally AT&T bought Cingular back!

Confused yet? Thats ok. On top of all that mess, AT&T sold its unprofitable Rural New England operations to Fairpoint (pending approval).

The bottom line: I’m scared about when this will end, and if my premonition about the 1 or 2 final Telecom giants ruling the USA will come to pass, leaving us all with crappy service and soaring rates due to a lack of competition. Of some comfort is the fact that I can switch to VoIP for land-line service, use small-company DSL or cable from the big evil Time-Warner, and have a little choice in cellular too.

The whole thing that brought this up is the fact that I was telling B about how AT&T bought Cingular back, and he pointed out that the Colbert Report had just done an explanation that both out-does mine, and is funny as hell (as usual). So if my explanation confuses you (hell it confuses me), See the slightly less in-depth video here.

UPDATE: Sadly the video has been taken down by Viacom. I can’t seem to find a replacement anywhere…

Welcome to Part 2 of Mythbusters Goodies. In Part 1 we went over some neat areas of Jamie Hyneman’s M5 Industries website. In this installment, we’ll take a look at the eclectic and weird things on Adam Savage’s website, adamsavage.com. Follow along, children!

Adam’s website is divided into five main sections (plus an email link). We’ll do this logically and cover each section in turn.

General

Adam’s website is mostly cool things he’s either made or collected over the years, and the general section basically introduces this, and gives you some background on the inventive and funny Mr. Savage. There isn’t a lot to see here, so let’s move on…

Commercial

Adam has worked in the Special Effects industry for years, and this section displays some of the work he’s done for various companies. Among them are a laser cut acrylic crane for First Union Bank, a torture device for Pizza Hut’s Mr. Bill, and a half-scale model of the Mars Viking Lander, which I particularly like, since I’m fascinated with Mars. He also talks about his work on the Coca-Cola commercial “Contraption” which was nominated for a Clio, but I can’t for the life of me find a version of it anywhere online *sigh*.

Design

This Section showcases Adam’s skill in sculpture and design. He has some great work here, especially if you have eclectic taste. I like the Frankenstein Biker Heart, Dolphin Spine, bionic eye, M1900 9-barrel, and of course the map of Middle earth.

TV Show

The TV Show pretty much just has some shots from the show. Nothing new to see here so we’ll move on.

Film

Adam has worked on some of my favorite films, like Star Wars, Space Cowboys,
A.I., and Bicentennial Man.

The eye-checker and robot pieces are two of my favorites from Bicentennial man. The eye-checker is extremely well done.

He’s also made some tiny sets for films like Space Cowboys and Titanic. Adam also showed off his fake radiator in one of the Mythbusters special.

Well, thats all there is to Adam Savage’s site. There isn’t a whole lot to write about, because its all visual! Go check it out, its worth the time, and if you did follow along, I hope you enjoyed perusing his collected works as much as I did. Stay strange people!

I know the idea of Microsoft finally releasing a new OS is cause for celebration among some (though for the life of me I don’t know why…), you may want to wait untill its been out for a while, before going out to grab a copy. Though it doesn’t release to consumers until Jan. 30th, some institutions can get a copy now, but as Wired writer Bruce Gain says, you probably don’t want to.

Bruce sez:

Visual splendor is Vista Ultimate’s greatest selling point — the new operating system does offer a graphically intensive interface that differs greatly from that of Windows XP. Also, Vista dumbs everything down for you, streamlining the Wild West of complex OS software into a useful product… However, I encountered several bumps in the road during testing that show Vista is not ready for everyday use by millions of people just yet — no matter how pretty it looks.

It appears Vista’s cosmetic improvements over XP come at a price. Not only will many of your older programs not run on Vista, some of your peripherals may also experience incompatability woes. Plus, lets face it, new Windows releases are always buggy while the user-base ferrets out glitches and vulnerabilities that the beta testers missed, so you might as well stick with XP for now. Actually, unless your using an application that specifically requires XP and has no existing equivilant in Linux, and barring games or course there are VERY few apps of any kind without a par or better open source equivilant, you should be using Linux anyway!

I mean, think about this: why pay for an OS when there is a free OS that not only has an endless number of variations suited to any need you may have, but also supports an endless number of free applications that run on it? Its common sense people.

And don’t give me that “I don’t know linux” or “Sorry Tom, we can’t all be computer gurus” excuse. ANYONE, even my grandmother, who has never used a computer, could install Ubuntu by herself. Yes, some distros are hard to get up and running, but most are not, and Ubuntu is the king of that domain. So do yourself a favor and instead of spending $300 on Vista, install Ubuntu for free, and dual boot it and windows. That way you can still play your Windows games and you won’t be dropped into an unfamiliar albeit user friendly environment all at once. Go ahead, wean yourself off the tainted teat of Microsoft.

Oh, and if you are really scared to install Ubuntu by yourself, here are a couple guides to make it even simpler:

Installing Ubuntu Linux
Video: Installing Ubuntu on a windows machine (Dual Booting)
and here’s another dual boot video.

Oh yeah, got a little sidetracked. Bruce goes on to say:

The Verdict
Vista’s power consumption superlatives aside, I would not recommend going out and buying Vista off the shelf or pre-installed on a PC when it becomes available. Users will likely suffer many headaches with missing peripheral drivers and a lack of backward compatibility with legacy software, and those headaches will not make Vista worth its hefty price tag.

If possible, wait a year or more after Vista’s launch to invest in the operating system. At least by then, numerous updates, hardware drivers and service packs will likely have been released.

One potential treat I hope to review in the near future is how game developers will take advantage of Microsoft’s DirectX 10 API, which Vista offers. Unfortunately, DirectX 10 games and capable graphics cards were not yet available when we ran our tests.

Damn I’m such a procrastinator. Thank you to those who trudge on with me despite the infrequency with which I post. I blame my tight schedule, and more recently, WoW (yes, I’ve become and addict. No I don’t know what took me so long. I though I was strong enough to resist, alas I am not). Mostly, however, the blame rests squarely on my own shoulders. Anyway, thank you again to my faithful readers. Moving on…

It’s no secret to Amme nor the rest of my friends/family that I LOVE Mythbusters. If you’ve never heard of it then don’t even talk to me, heh. If you have seen Mythbusters you’ll know why it appeals to me. Not only do they solve myths that have circulated through our culture for years, such as “Can using a cell phone while pumping gas causes really an explosion?” and “Cement inside a cement truck can be removed with dynamite”, they also blow up, torch, and wreck pretty much anything they get their hands on, and build amazing apparati and gadgets, all in the name of science.

The best part is that it is not a flashy mindless thrown-together sort of TV show. The hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are Visual Effects professionals who attack every myth using the scientific method, use physics and science researched by a crack team of behind-the-scenes specialists, and test each myth tirelessly and thoroughly to make sure their findings are correct.

I love the show so much that I’ve made DVDs of every episode, and I encourage you to watch every episode you can, however you can get your hands of them. The subject matter is fascinating. The hosts, including the “build team”, are hilarious, with Adam and Jamie having a classic Double Act relationship. You’ll probably even learn something while watching. And lets face it, these guys are doing things we can only do in our wildest dreams.

So, now that I’ve professed my affliction for this marvelous show, we can get down to what sparked all this. For some reason I came across links to both the M5 website (M5 is Jamie Hyneman’s visual effects company), and Adam Savage’s website. These weren’t hard to find mind you, I just hadn’t ever looked for them before. Both websites have a lot of really neat stuff for both Mythbusters fans, and those just interested in the cool, weird, unusual, and funny.

First, lets highlight some neat pages at M5…

Portfolio

The Portfolio, as you might imagine, makes up the bulk of the site. Here you will find a comprehensive list of Visual Effects projects M5 has undertaken over the years. There are Commercials, Films, and Prototypes. This area is still in progress, so some of the project pages are lacking description or images, but most are there. M5 has created puppets, models, robots, and all manner of gadgets over the years.

Of particular interest are This ingenious Chef Boyardee rolling can, The massive Monkeybone set, The famous 7-Up vending tank, and of course this great vintage shot of young Hyneman!

I’d like to see video links here, maybe from youtube/google video, alas not today.

Inside M5

This section is really neat because it gives us a sneak peek into M5I’s inner workings. As you’ve seen on Mythbusters, there are artifacts stuffed and dangling all over the place from past builds and projects. We also see some build tools like band and table saws, caulk, paint supplies, and CAD equipment. Also hanging out in M5I is a chatty rat, I believe from the Junkyard Wars commercial, and one of the guys from Naked Lunch looking like an alien autopsy photo. I’m not linking these, to encourage you to hunt them down yourself.

Staff

The staff section has a little bit about a couple of the people that make M5 function. As a side note, I stumbled upon this page by Cris Rocha who is apparently renting his family’s Villa, lol.

Departments

The Departments section gives us a look at the different areas of M5 that go into creating these crazy concoctions. Among them are the Modelshop, Moldmaking, Machine shop, Painting, Woodshop, Robotics, Electronics, Welding, and Fabrication.

The Machine shop is where their two-time champion BattleBot Blendo was constructed.

Press

The press area is that last area of the M5I site (besides Contact, which is just for companies wanting to hire M5). In this section you can view Article excerpts from magazines M5′s creations have been featured in.

Well, thats about all the fun stuff on the M5 Industries page. I really enjoy looking at the projects they’ve done in the past. I hope you do too!

I’ve decided to split this into a two-parter, and Adam Savage’s website has some really zaney stuff, so check out part two here.

Whilst looking through some old un-labeled cds, I came across a little gem I filmed with my friends winter of 2003 and edited into a trailer winter of 2004. Now here, winter of 2005, it seems apropriate I share it with the world.

You can view it in an embedded windows media player viewer here: Embedded WMV Player, but I warn you, It has given some people some trouble (as it may not be a standards compliant activeX control.

Instead, you can direct download the trailer in these formats:

Divx (9.69MB @ 512×384)

RM *double shiver* (2.86MB @ 640×480). I suggest Real Alternative player for Windows (Linux and Mac users likely already have a good player).

WMV (6.72MB @ 400×300). I suggest Media Player Classic for Windows systems (again, Linux and Mac users probably have a player yet).

Loiter is a mockumentary about an underground movement of loiterers that tries to understand what it is all about and why they do it. There are a couple minor tweaks I would like to make to the end of this, as the music just fades out at the end, but I no longer have the source footage so there’s that. I hope you enjoy.

I did. From my mouth flew an undecipherable gibberish that could only be described as “colloquial”.

Yes me boys, ’tis an iPod. Aye, she plays video. We knew it may come soon, but not this soon. I was all set to write an in-depth, lengthy run-down on big-eyed, petite vixen, but one of my favorites, Webfroot, beat me to it.

In that right, you really should read about it there. And I will give but a few facts to whet your appetite:

It comes in 30GB and 60GB models

It can still hold music, album art, and photos, as well as 150 hrs video (60GB model)

It has a big ole’ 2.5-inch display

It has 5 more hours battery life than the 4th Gen

It comes in black, sans Bonno (yes!)

The 30GB is 45% thinner than the 4thGen and the 60GB is 10% thinner than the 20GB 4th Gen!

via: Nyrath > MetaFilter > Wonderland > shacknews

Heres the skinny: Blizzard adds in a new instance: Zul’Gurub. Inside is the god of blood, Hakkar. Well, when you fight him he has a debuff called Corrputed Blood. It does like 250-350 damage to palyers and affects nearby players. The amazing thing is SOME PLAYERS have brought this disease (and it is a disease) back to the towns, outside of the instance. It starts spreading amongst the genral population including npcs, who can out generate the damage. Some servers have gotten so bad that you can’t go into the major cities without getting the plague (and anyone less than like level 50 nearly immediately die).

GM’s even tried quarantining players in certain areas, but the players kept escaping the quarentine and infect other players.

Here is a video of it spreading through a village. You have to watch it. It’s like spontanious human combustion… er, explosion rather.

And a different one here

Zul’Gurub was introduced in the version 1.7 update last week.

On some servers it’s infected to many npcs to go into town. On some it is around and then dies off and comes back a few hours later.

Ripping good laugh, that.

What is everybody doing this Independence Day? Amme, Jalb, and I are going to Portland for the weekend. Evan has to work for the man (The Sleepers, lol) so he can’t go :`( , and Doody will be passing through Saturday but cannot stay either :`( . We’ll set off big explosions for you guys.

Amme has class on Monday (WTF U.Maine?!) so we will be back sunday night and celebrate the 4th on a romantic date. As for our plans this weekend? I plan on taking tons of photos, having a great time with our friends, going to NH on friday to get ME-llegal fireworks, and shooting some assault rifles. Don’t worry! I’ve done it before, and we are VERY careful. If there is one thing I do safely, and was taught very well by my Father, it is firearm safety. We use ear and eye protection, ALWAYS assume ALL weapons are loaded, and keep everyone at a safe distance from the single person opperating a weapon at the time. The rifles are Jason’s. I don’t remember exactly what he has, but I’m pretty sure there is an SKS, AR 15, Chinese version? AK-47, and a 12 gauge and lil’ 22 cal. Last time Zach told me to fold the stock on the 12 ga. (it has a pistol slide grip in the front and folding stock) and fire it from the hip, so of course I did it, bracing my body hard. I jumped back a few inches from the recoil, but MAN what an adrenaline rush! I later found out that just before I fired zach muttered “Damn, I was just kidding!”. Hehehe. I plan on getting it on video this weekend.

So to all my parental figures reading this, don’t worry, we go to a gravel pit designated as a safe place to shoot by local gun clubs, and we are VERY safe with them. What you all need to worry about is drunk drivers on the 4th.
BE SAFE EVERYBODY! STAY PURE!

For those of you who arn’t subscribed to the The Broken newsletter, Systm, from the creators of The Broken, went up at 8pm PST tonight. You can download torrents of it at systm.org. I’m in the process of downloading it now and am very excited!

As stated in the newsletter, “While Systm is a general interest HOW-TO show, thebroken will continue to have 40′z and hacking”. Thats good news, for though I welcome any show by Kevin Rose, I would hate to see The Broken go the way of Call For Help.

They’re throwing a release/Dan’s birthday house party tonight with invites going out to “Kevin, Dan, Keith and Ron (systm/thebroken crew) along with other TechTV staffers (Leo, Pat, Yoshi, Martin, Alex, and others (Ramzi) have all been invited).” with a webcam and IRC chat for us lowly fans. I didn’t catch anything until a few minutes ago, however, and it apears they shut the cam off at 10:11 pm PST. There are only three people chilling in the picture, so I assume they party didn’t go well, or it was crazy nuts and someone went to the hospital. I’m guessing the former, which saddens me with memories of our first and only “rave” at Jalbey’s house.

As for new The Broken episodes,

I’ll quote the newsletter:

After several weeks of lawyer negotations with G4 (my 9-5 job), they have agreed to release me from my contract. Friday May 27th 2005 marks my last day on the G4 network. That means we are focusing on thebroken / Systm FULL TIME! We are starting to plan the next episode of thebroken now, and we’ll send out another update as we get closer to the release! Now that this is our full-time job, expect to see many more video releases coming your way!

It is sad to remember how G4 completely destroyed TechTV and every good program on it (except X-play, somehow), but I am elated that we still get to see many of the people that made it a great place to watch.

Ugh! The torrent is 97.4% complete. My posts are never long enough…

If you don’t regularly check Google Labs, you should. They have all kinds of new technology and they are always adding more.
The two most recent are Google Maps and Google Video.

Google Maps offers many of the same features as the popular competitor Mapquest.com (View maps, driving directions, search for local businesses and services), but has much more beautifully rendered maps ( IMHO) with animated map navigation (may not seem like much, but try scrolling your window down every time you zoom in with a 1024×768 screen size at mapquest), and better information presentation (city names arn’t all cluttered on a wide view).

Now granted, maps.google.com is in its beta, and probably isn’t as comprehensive as some of the competition, but MAN look at those sexy maps! Search your street address, and view the 3D shadowed address bubble. If that weren’t enough, the whole map is dragable, like a pdf file! This means no more clicking an arrow image thats linked to the next image. Its all real-time baby. Get directions to or from a location and get an interactive list of directions with a zoomed window of all the key turns and directions.

Google Video searches the text of the closed captioning data from a T.V. program and grabs screenshots off the video stream from time the text occured. Searching within a T.V. show is something one couldn’t do before unless it was an older show and had an episode guide. It could go mostly unused, or it could become another thing we don’t remember how we lived without. To date they have but a few stations dating back to December 2004 (still in beta), but it is ever expanding. Besides, a search for Family Guy gave me numerous results, so what else does one need?

Wal-Marts are being de-uglified:

“For communities that reject the generic Wal-Mart Supercenter, the company is experimenting with contextualism”

I wish they’d had this thinking when they were building the one in Almost (presque) Isle. ..

My layout is getting there. I’m still not completely happy with it, but its on the way. The rest of the site, however, is still in shambles and located on the old server. I’ll be done with that in another two days.
Tonight Amme and I are going down to Bangor again to sign the lease on our first ever apartment! Its an amazing place, and I’ll be taking a video to post here so everyone can see our new place (^_^)
