July Lightning Photos
We had a hell of a storm last night. As I was driving home from work at 10pm I saw the sky flashing but it was very far away so I couldn’t hear anything. As the night progressed the storm got closer and closer, and I made sure I had my camera out when it was right on top of us. We had some strikes so close they knocked out the power and made me jump despite the fact that I was braced for them.
The exposure time on these photos range anywhere from a few seconds to over a minute, I basically put it on manual (“bulb”), held down the shutter release button, and waited for a strike. When I saw one I let go and repeated. These aren’t as close up as some of the others I’ve taken, but I’m really happy about how many I managed to capture! You can also check them out in my photo section or as a slideshow. If you’re interested, you can see my previous lightning photos here.
