I fall into one of the same categories as you do and write notes for myself that I then put in my pocket and then never look at again until it comes out all over my clothes in the laundry a week later. Its just notecards held together with a ring or butterfly clip. I use mine constantly to write down notes and stuff. I have a "To Do" card, a "To Get" card, and some reference cards with useful info, plus about 15 other blank cards in the back. When i fill up a To Do card, and cross everything off as done, I throw it away and start a new one. They are only about a third the size of regular notecards and have a small footprint in my pocket.
